Author Glenn D. Hettinger has chosen 56 spectacular lakefront homes to illustrate the architectural marvels that grace the Lake Geneva community. A home’s section contains descriptions from owners, architects as well as a table listing the years of construction and remolding, square footage, architects, interior designer, style, general contractor, windows, docks and the photographer, who is frequently the author. Hettinger sprinkles his “awards” for distinctive features among the featured properties.
The narrative is nice, but the photos are spectacular! Exterior and interior, lake views, docks, kitchens, dens, baths and bedrooms will command your admiration. I have never visited Lake Geneva or walked its 21-mile lakeside path but can relate to this book because of the comparison to homes in Door County. I was surprised that most of the featured homes were built or remolded within the past 15 years but there has been a lot of construction in the Door also. I enjoyed the book and it has kindled an interest in seeing the real thing.”
